Due to the biological basis of obesity some patients may require additional pharmacotherapy to assist in appetite suppression. OPTIFAST® VLCD™ may be used in conjunction with prescription medications to facilitate weight loss. Noradrenergic agonists (phentermine) have been used in conjunction with the OPTIFAST® VLCD™ Program, it is recommended that they are not used for a period of more than 3 months.

We don't recommend that other over the counter weight loss products or appetite suppressants be taken with OPTIFAST® VLCD™. There is currently no clinical evidence to support the efficacy and safety of using products such as these in conjunction with the OPTIFAST® VLCD™ Program.
